UPDATE: 1 killed in train vs. car crash

Paul Johnson, 77, of London was killed when his car was hit by a train on HWY 333 in London.

Pope County Deputies got the call around 8:45 Friday night.  Several local agencies responded to the scene. 

There is no word right now as to what caused the collision no one on the train was hurt.

FOX16 will continue to gather details and will bring them to you as soon as we know more.

No word right now as to what caused the collision ? I am going to guess that the car was in the trains path.

Is that one of the two crossings in the curve before you go downhill into Scotia? I have worked that line before and I can say that mostly everyone sounds the horn in the proper way. It's a sad time for the person killed and the crew on the train.

I live a few blocks from there. I cross that track everyday. There is little warning. The trains often do not sound the horn until right as they are at the crossing. Its unfortunate that this happened and it could of been avoided. This is not the first time either. Sadly my wife and I talked about the lack of warning the day before. Jeff McGee
