SWEET HOME, AR - Firefighters aren't sure how a vacant building in Sweet Home caught fire Thursday. The good news is no one got hurt. Here's the bad news though ...

"This community," said Calvin Crumpton, who lives nearby, "it's been a disaster around here."

Crumpton thinks he knows what caused the fire.

"Unfortunately," he said, "we have a lot of people that does drugs and different things here and maybe the homes are catching on fire like that."

Adding to Crumpton's theory is that it's not just the one vacant building that caught fire Friday, another vacant building on the other side of the street caught fire too, just last month.

Sweet Home Fire Chief Edward Brown says Crumpton's drug theory could be correct.

"It could be, and it could be trying to stay warm too," said Chief Brown. "You know it was cold last night. It's a possibility."

The chief offered another possibility too. He says the Sweet Home community is lucky the two fires hurt buildings -- and not people.

"We're lucky we didn't have it, but you know it's dangerous. It's really dangerous," he said.

Crumpton couldn't agree more. That's why he wants his neighbors to take notice.

"Everybody, you know, even the community," he said, "needs to step up and needs to voice their opinion to keep our neighborhoods clean."
