UPDATE: Garland County fire contained, 30-40 acres burned

JESSIEVILLE, AR – Fire crews in Garland County contained a wildfire burning north of Lake Ouachita Friday afternoon.

US Forestry says the fire burned between 30 and 40 acres. The fire was located along the 8600 block of Hwy 298. The Garland County Sheriff’s Office says that fire endangered homes near Tina Herron Road and Cecil Adams Circle, but no homes were damaged.

Firefighters credit a passing rainstorm with helping with the containment of the fire.
