LITTLE ROCK, AR – A Rison teen was killed and three others injured in a head-on crash on Highway 133 north of Rison Tuesday afternoon.
The Arkansas State Police report that Joshua Cook, 17, was driving a Honda Civic southbound on the highway, passing another car in a no-passing zone. Cook’s Civic crested a hill and hit a Plymouth Valiant heading northbound head-on.
17-year-old Logan Prescott, who was riding with Cook, was killed in the accident. Also riding with Cook and injured was Justin Ross, also 17-years-old. The Pine Bluff Commercial reports that all three teens went to Rison High School and were members of the football team.
The driver of the Plymouth is 63-year-old Lee Applegarth. According to the ASP accident report, none of the 4 involved in the accident were wearing their seatbelts.
Cook and Applegarth were taken to JRMC in Pine Bluff. Ross was airlifted to Baptist Hospital in Little Rock.
