Why so bitter? Why so quick to make snide remarks? Delayed entry - 6 weeks or so, not 6 years! I had to wait in part due to the MOS I chose would not have a class until a later date. And how can you write that delayed entry and blank checks are uncomparable when your previous comment said you were confused about the blank check comment? One comment was correct; none of this pertains to you, your ignorance indeed is showing, and like the old biker saying goes - If I have to explain, you wouldn't understand..

May he find peace in his final resting place. So sorry for your lose and the ignorance of some of the people on here that make comments about things that don't pertain to him. Veterans and current service members understand. For those that didn't serve. If you haven't been there you never will understand the bond and brotherhood that we all have. Semper Fi.

Thank you ArkansasYankee, I will be joined by my youngest brother today and we will talk to my step mom about how she would like to go about things. I have written down your links and such. You should know shortly if what her wishes will be. My father's time in the military was very very important to him. He love of our country is a passion that has still be passed down to me and my siblings. Regardless of what we decided to do, thank you once again for all your support and encouragement.

I enlisted in the delayed entry program; went to BCT in Sep of 71. And every vet on here knows you are confused, and they can easily see why you wouldn't understand. I quoted ( to the best of my memory ) something from a poster at the main VA hospital in LR. Go down there and make light of it! Yes, many were drafted during Vietnam; but most still went, and many lost their lives; they are still hero's to those of us that served, and all Americans intelligent enough to understand what I was talking about.

Arkansas Yankee.... do you really believe our veterans, the people in the armed forces now ALL signed on for the reasons you stated? Arkansas Yankee did YOU sign on for the reasons you stated? Your right about me not understanding I am confused. I am even more confused with you throwing in this blank check thing. So yall have been writing blank checks to the United States (and me)? ...... Dumb me I thought the United States had been writing monthly checks to yall....... Arkansas Yankee you are old enough that the draft was still in force. I missed it by less than a year. Were you drafted or did you sign up for reasons stated? I am sorry this turned out so tragically for this family.
