UPDATE: A silver alert has been issued for Andrew Haukereid.

LITTLE ROCK, AR - A family is asking for the help of Arkansans in the search for a 79-year old man who disappeared from an Amtrak train.

Andrew Haukereid was last seen late Saturday, May 19th on the "Texas Eagle" Amtrak train traveling from San Antonio to Chicago. His luggage, including prescription medication for pain and high blood pressure, arrived in Chicago, according to Amtrak officials, but Haukereid was not on the train.

His family believes he may be in Poplar Bluff, MO or Walnut Ridge, AR, as both towns have Amtrak stops. He could also be in the Little Rock area or St. Louis area.

Greg Haukereid and his brother Scott spent most of the Memorial Day weekend in St. Louis and Walnut Ridge distributing missing person posters as well as contacting shelters and hospitals.

"It tears your heart out but you got to try and remain hopeful," Greg Haukereid says.  "Anything can happen."

Walnut Ridge Police tell FOX16 News posters of Andrew Haukereid are all over the Lawrence County town of 4,700 residents.

He is described as tan and has thick, curly gray hair and was wearing glasses. He was last seen wearing black dress pants, a red t-shirt and black dress shoes. He also had a medium blue jacket with him.

He may have seemed confused or disoriented but does not suffer from dementia.

"I can't remember anything in my lifetime when he hasn't been in contact, especially when it relates to a trip," Haukereid says.

If anyone has seen Andrew Haukereid, they are asked to contact their local police department.

Please HELP my brother's Dad. He went missing from an Amtrak Train sometime after 10:30 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2012 somewhere between Little Rock Arkansas...St.Louis Missouri and Chicago.

Keep hoping and praying. I take meds too and I have found that if you have been taking them regularly you ususally have enough levels that you may not always have problems missing a couple days without them. Like after surgery I didn't always get them the first couple days and was okay. He and your family are in my prayers. Hope you find him today. I also hope people are helping with the financial cost and leg work of looking for him.

Oh this breaks my heart. I will pray for him and his family and hope he is found safe. May God watch over him and send his angels to protect him.
