SEARCY, AR – Police have arrested a man suspected of repeatedly stabbing a Searcy mother while she tried to stop him from raping her 12-year-old daughter.

According to reports, authorities from the Searcy Police Department responded to an aggravated assault report at a residence around 5:30 pm on December 18. When they arrived, police found a woman who appeared to have been stabbed multiple times.

The woman, whose name has not been released, told police that she was stabbed by an unknown suspect multiple times while trying to stop him from raping her 12-year-old daughter. The suspect then raped the girl and fled the scene on foot, and the mother and daughter went to a neighbor’s house to call 911.

Searcy Police have identified 29-year-old Aaron Ray Rash as the suspect and arrested him around 4:00pm Wednesday after receiving a tip about a suspicious person in the area. Police say Rash, a level 3 sex offender, was arrested without incident in the area of south Booth road in Searcy.

IF this guy is guilty (and I agree with Robert that many mistakes are made just to make an arrest), this case is a good example of how our current laws make it impossible to keep up with the seriously dangerous by requiring monitoring of ALL offenders. And all registries need to be available only to law enforcement. Why???--look at the earlier comments!! Why are these comments not being monitored for removal (Rule #5)?????

mel032 This is an emotional issue and reason tends to exit the room because of that. The fact of someone hanging out or returning to the area may happen (rarely), I'll concede to that if the guy was mentally ill or did a home invasion robbery or a petty crime. For someone to stab a mother and try an rape a 12 year old? No, the guy would do anything to get out of town unless he was mentally ill. Sex offenders must go through a great deal of mandated therapy and accountability. Registrants make for an easy target for law enforcement, the public and the media. It's a slam-dunk to quickly accuse a registrant. Can one slip through the cracks and re-offend? I guess anything is possible, but if you take a random group of a million citizens and compare them with that of a million registered sex offenders the registered sex offender group would have far less newly committed sex crimes. Why? Because according to the new department of Justice report 95% of all new sex crimes come from non-sex offender citizens (usually family members or friends of family members) that have no documented history of such offenses. TRUTH Mel I'm more concerned about the mentally ill than registered sex offenders. All the registration laws were based on the mentally ill attaching children ie. Adam Walsh. his attacker wasn't a sex offender but mentally ill same with Sammantha Runnen. again, could this guy have been the attacker? Maybe so if he also was mentally ill and if that's the case then the mother has a strong case for legal action against the county or state she lives in because they didn't discover his condition during his mandated therapy sessions. The villains here might just be law enforcement, probation department or other institutions that are there to test and check on these people. FACT

Robert Curtis - you are obviouisly an absolute idiot! you should the complete news article. the mom caught him trying to rape her daughter (who is 12 he is 29) and he stabbed her several (many more than once) times as she tried to fight him off. after subduing the mother he then preceded to continue to rape the 12 year old girl. of course he knew he had commited a crime. one raping a 12 year old girl and second: stabbing her mother. he obiously knew people who lived at the apartment complex, but may not or may have known the mom/daughter. if he knew other residents then it would have been easy for him to see that a mom and daughter lived there. it is also very common for ciminals to revisit their crimes to see what they did or to find out if anyone knows anything. it is very common for criminals to be caught very close to where they commited the crimes. you are just an idiot. serioursly??!! how could you even remotely reason what he did or give any kind of excuse???!!!

There are so many unanswered questions. People assume so much without all the facts. First if this guy did this crime why didn't he flee the area? That would hint at him either as mentally ill or was unaware that he had committed a crime. A fabrication of sorts against a registered sex offender. Of course a small town (population of only 23 thousand) would never do such a thing against a known registered sex offender. IT states he tried to rape the 12 year old. Really? You mean he didn't actually rape her? Well, that's a good thing but why did it take a full 24 hours for an arrest to be made. Was there a doubt to whom they should arrest? Again why would the guy stay in the town where he did such a horrible act. Even if he thought the mom was dead the daughter was still alive. Check on the emotional stability of the daughter and if the mother had a relationship with violent Boy friend or husband. This all seems to contrived or all the real facts aren't being told. If the guy ends up innocent will the media do big story on it. No, the guy and every other registrant doesn't get that kind of coverage...."EVER!" Just a thought

He used a knife to assault someone, not a gun. Yet our government thinks gun control will solve violent crimes.
