Suspect in Saline County manhunt turned himeself in Friday night. Saline County Deputies searched for James Flowers for nearly six hours. The search took place near the Pulaski/Saline County line.
The rural wooded area of Saline County is normally peaceful and quiet. Friday that was disrupted when investigators say a man took off in to the woods armed with two guns after threatening deputies and even his grandmother. Saline County sheriff's deputies got the call at 1:00 Friday afternoon.
“He basically took his grandmother hostage and the residents with a gun,” Saline County Sheriff Bruce Pennington said. Pennington say Flowers didn’t stop there. “He made a statement that if police arrived he would shoot law enforcement,” Pennington said.
That’s when the sheriff initiated a multi-agency manhunt to find the 23-year-old man people in Saline County know well.
“He's been terrorizing ever since he was a little kid. People in the neighborhood and all over Paron,” neighbor Jodi Russell said.
“That was the first thing I was warned about when I moved out here was about this guy,” Neighbor Terry Smith said.
Sheriff Pennington says this week alone his office got several calls about Flowers. “From drug activity, fighting with neighbors to breaking and entering,” Pennington said.
This latest event brought out search dogs, horses, even a helicopter to get him off the streets. “He's lived in this area his whole life he knows the woods better than anybody,“ neighbor James Bozeman said.
Deputies called off the search around 7PM. Shortly after Flowers turned himself into the Saline County Sheriff's Office.
