Update (July 30, 1:45 p.m.):
LITTLE ROCK, AR - A Little Rock woman has been cited for careless driving after a frightening morning accident on Interstate 440 on the city's east side injured another driver.

Police say Theando Medlock, of Carlisle, lost control of his SUV after it was sideswiped by Kaitlyn Butler's vehicle on the westbound 138A exit ramp.

Police say Butler was also cited for driving on a suspended license. She told police she did not see Medlock's SUV when she took the exit "at the last minute."

After it was sideswiped, Medlock's SUV then slammed into a concrete barrier. After that, the SUV began to slide on top of the concrete wall, traveled over the edge and fell about 20 feet to the ground below, landing upright.

Firefighters had to use ropes and climb down the side of the interstate bridge to get to Medlock. He was lifted back up to the freeway and taken away in an ambulance. Officials say he is expected to survive.

Morning rush hour traffic was backed up for miles after the accident that happened shortly before 7:00.

Original story (July 30, 7:15 a.m.):
LITTLE ROCK, AR - The driver of an SUV has been taken to the hospital after his vehicle tumbled off a freeway embankment on I-440 on the east side of town.

It happened shortly before 7:00 this morning near the I-30 interchange, backing up traffic for miles.

Police shutdown the exit (138A) on eastbound I-440 that goes to Roosevelt Road so that crews could throw ropes over the edge and climb down to the injured man.

When he was lifted up and placed into an ambulance, he was talking to paramedics and moving his hands and feet. Further details on his condition are not yet known.

Fox 16 News Reporter Dustin Barnes is on the scene. He says another driver has told police that she caused the accident. Police say the SUV was struck by another car before it rolled off the interstate. There's no word on any charges the other driver may face.

Police are still investigating.
