Family and friends are mourning the death of a teenager after a deadly moped crash. Investigators say 14 year old Brandon Norman died Tuesday night last night after losing control of his moped and crashing into a telephone pole on Lawson Road in Pulaski County. Norman was a freshman at J.A. Fair High School and Wednesday his football coach invited FOX16 to practice as Norman is remembered.
"This is what Maurice [brother] felt like what Brandon wanted us to do, you know. Keep going, not really in his name, but in his faith, you know," says Coach Donald Harris, J.A. Fair High School Football.
Physically the J.A. Fair high school football team is on the field practicing, but their hearts are with teammate and friend, Brandon Norman.
Before hitting the field, Coach Harris passed on a message from Norman's family. "Enjoy life. Go home and hug your mom and dad, tell them how important it is, you know."
The crash happened around 7:15 Tuesday night; investigators say Norman didn't have his helmet on. Officers found it locked under the seat.
"Hard. I was with the family all last night. You can't let it go. All the guys loved him, you know," says Harris.
That's why they're doing what his family says Norman loved to do, play football. "Since he's been around us, since he's been around his brother Maurice a lot, he was exceptional. You want your son to be like him everyday."
Family members say they are in the process of planning a memorial next week.
