Update: One Charge Filed Against Saline Co. Sheriff Changed

Sheriff Bruce Pennington is now charged with public intoxication and resisting arrest instead of refusal to submit to arrest.
Update (August 23):
BENTON, AR - One of the charges filed against Saline County Sheriff Bruce Pennington has been changed.

According to Saline County court officials, the charge is now resisting arrest instead of refusal to submit to arrest.  

That changes the charge from a class B misdemeanor to a class A misdemeanor.

BENTON, AR -- Defense attorneys for Saline County Sheriff Bruce Pennington has been given more time to prepare for his trial on charges of public intoxication and refusing to submit to an arrest.

The charges stem from an an incident occurring outside a restaurant in his county in June.

Pennington says he plans to plead guilty, and the prosecutor says he is determining if more charges are appropriate.

The new date is now Aug. 26.
