Curtis Vance says he doesn't trust his defense team and wants new lawyers.  Vance, 28, faces a capital murder charge for the death of anchorwoman Anne Pressly last fall.

Both Vance and his mother spoke out to FOX16 News saying they're left out of the loop on information regarding his case.

Curtis Vance didn't say much on his way into court, but said plenty once inside.  He told circuit judge Chris Piazza he wants to replace his three public defenders.

"It's time for this to stop, I need to see some results, the world needs to see some results," Vance said in open court.

Piazza told him he needs to be patient and work with his attorneys.  He approved a defense motion for a mental evaluation of Vance.

As he left the courtroom Vance spoke to reporters again.

Goins asks: "Curtis, what do you have to say about your defense team?"  Curtis Vance says: "inactive."  Goins says: “You're expressing some serious concerns about them."  Vance says: "I mean, I’ve been here five months, it's been time for an independent DNA test, time for the world to know the truth."

Vance responded when pressed on what the truth is.

"Give me a DNA test, you will see the truth," Vance responded.

Police took hair samples from Vance's head last week to compare it with DNA found at Anne Pressly's home after her October murder.

Goins asks: "You had some concerns about some hair samples taken last week?"  Vance says: "Yeah, I did.  I need a court order copy for that."

Vance's mom Jacqueline wants a change in lawyers too.

"I mean he's not satisfied with his defense team so, you know, who else better can speak up for him but him," says Jacqueline Vance.  "I don't feel that they're doing everything that they can do, but they say that they are."

Pressly's parents, Guy and Patti Cannady, were in the courtroom for the hearing, but didn't say anything afterwards.

As Vance left the courtroom he was asked again where he was the day Pressly was attacked on October 20, 2008.  He started to answer but didn’t finish before boarding a bus for the Pulaski County Jail.

Prosecutors have not said whether or not they plan to pursue the death penalty against Vance.  His next court appearance is set for June 16th.  Vance's murder trial is set to start September 9th.
