A water main break shut down three lanes of traffic on Baseline Road in Little Rock Sunday, and repairs could take days.

Emergency crews responded to the 12 inch water main that burst around 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon near the 5300 block of Baseline Road.

Now, there is at giant hole in the road where crews are working on the busted water main. Water was quickly shut off to the area. Only 2 homes and a church were without water Sunday night. Drivers will have to navigate around the gaping hole until the repairs are completed.

Water gushed down Baseline Road flowing like a river as drivers splashed through the water. The typically busy stretch of road was slow going as crews closed off the westbound lanes of traffic.

Central Arkansas Water crews say the damage to the burst water main could have been much worse. Several businesses are nearby, as well as an apartment complex with more than 200 units. Luckily, they're not impacted.

Emergency crews say while the water is now under control, drivers will be inconvenienced by needing to take an alternate route. Cpt. Randy Hickmon with the Little Rock Fire Department says by the time crews dig up the street on both sides and repair it, it could take a couple of days.

There's no word yet what caused the water main break.

Boss Hog, THV11 doesn't show hardly any news. Only 3 to 5 local stories than on to cooking shows, Facebook, Joey the cat, and entertainment stuff.

Central Arkansas Water Crews. Great Job... I have seen them work late hours making sure we always have water. Thanks, Wish the rest of the Utility companies are as dedicated to provide customer service as the water company is.

Once again THV11 does not proof read their story. Gapping hole? I guess there is a "gap" across it.
