Winter weather across the northern half of the country causes travel problems for people heading in and out of the Little Rock National Airport.  The sun was shining here in Arkansas and the temperature was ideal but things aren't faring so well in Chicago. The city is dealing with a severe winter storm and flights in and out are getting cancelled. This is bad news for Jennifer Beach, her family is there waiting on her to celebrate Christmas.

"It's just my flight I’m supposed to be on out of here that plane hasn't even left where it's coming from, which I think is kind of what's happening across the country."

While Jennifer works on getting out of Little Rock, Melinda McCrory just got in from Iowa by way of Illinois.  "I was supposed to go out of Moline, Illinois yesterday but couldn't get out because flights through Chicago were cancelled so I ended up staying in Cedar Rapids at a motel."

This family is reuniting after 10 months; even though Curtis Thompson encountered some bad weather during his journey from Iraq he won't let anything spoil the moment. "I mean this is the best Christmas present I could ever ask for she asked me what I wanted for Christmas, I don't want nothing I'm happy right now. This is the best thing I could ever receive."

Thompson's good mood is contagious, even our delayed travelers manage to keep their spirits up. "I’m gonna get a book and an ipod,” says Jennifer.

Melinda says, "I have to leave Sunday but I have to go back through Chicago so if I get cancelled that way it's fine with me."

Arkansas is experiencing some great weather, none of the flight delays have originated from Little Rock National but more than 100 flights have been canceled at Chicago's O’Hare International Airport that's down from the 500 cancellations yesterday. The National Weather Service has posted winter storm warnings and advisories for large parts of the West, a portion of the Midwest and most of the Northeast.
