White Co. Sheriff Warns of Publisher's Clearing House Scam

WCSO says potential targets for the scam are receiving phone calls from a man claiming to be Mike Anderson from Publisher's Clearing House.
WHITE COUNTY, AR -- The White County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) is warning citizens of a Publisher's Clearing House scam making its way into the area.

WCSO says potential targets for the scam are receiving phone calls from a man claiming to be Mike Anderson from Publisher's Clearing House.

The caller then tells the victim that they have won a large cash prize or vehicle, and need to purchase a Green Dot money card, then call back and provide the information from the money card.

WCSO advises that anyone who receives calls of this nature just hang up the phone, as this is not a procedure to claim winnings from Publisher's Clearing House.

Anyone who experiences this, or any other situation that may seem suspicious, is also encouraged to call the White County Sheriff's Department at (501) 279-6241 to report the incident.

White County Sheriff's Detectives are currently working in conjunction with federal authorities to resolve this issue.
