FAULKNER COUNTY, AR – A woman has been charged with endangering the welfare of a minor after a nurse practitioner raised concern over the weight of a five-month-old baby.
According to Prosecuting Attorney Cody Hiland, 20-year-old Serina Marie Brock was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a minor on October 23, following an investigation by the Department of Human Services.
Faulkner County Deputies responded to Central Arkansas Pediatrics last week after a Nurse Practitioner raised concern about the weight of a five-month-old baby, who appeared to be well under the normal weight for his age.
Deputies say the Nurse Practitioner told them she’d advised Brock a number of times to bring the baby to the clinic for follow up appointments, but that Brock never did.
When the child’s grandmother brought him in for a check up, he was only 10 pounds – when at his age he should be almost 16 pounds.
Marie is set to appear in Faulkner County District Court for her arraignment on November 15.
The investigation is ongoing.
