The woman at the center of a theft investigation over $14,000 missing from the Pulaski County Comptroller's office says she's been fired.

Serita Holmes says an illness caused her to miss a scheduled polygraph test.  She claims when she returned to work after sick leave she got fired for refusing to take the test.  Holmes says her family started getting harassing phone calls and the stress of the situation became too much so she doesn't trust the test and stopped cooperating.

Holmes says she did not steal the money.

The county comptroller hasn't returned calls about the firing.

Polygraph? Were they out of eggs? Polygraphs are nothing more than junk science, which explains why they are not allowed in court cases and why a large majority of our police departments use them for employment. I guess they've never been to the antipolygraph.org site. ;)

I just heard on KARK that during the Quorum Court meeting last night that it was stated the woman in question has not been fired.

First of all in a court of law, a polygraph test is inadmissable. They do not really tell weather you are lying or no. A really good liar can beat one of these tests. Secondly, she missed that day of work because she was sick? YEA RIGHT! She was scared to death that they would catch her in a lie. The fact that they fired her for that I think was a good action on her supervisor.

On one hand I agree with her NOT taking the test but then again if she IS innocent, she should do ANYTHING to prove her innocense. Plus, the facts stand against her. And she did break the rules in the first place and knowing that it was wrong, she should be help accountable. Bad decisions- BIG TROUBLE !

I agree w/you Pauly. Regardless of whether she took the polygraph test or not, she should have been fired for not following SOP (standard operating procedures). She'd been @ her job long enough to know better.......her being fired was a no brainer...Stever Wonder could've seen that coming.
