JACKSONVILLE, AR - A woman who accused a Jacksonville police officer of excessive force and civil rights violations after she was tased in front of her children while walking to church has settled her lawsuit against the city of Jacksonville and one of its police officers.

Serena Washington filed suit against the city Jacksonville and police officer Ryan Temple after she was arrested and tased in May 2011.

Court documents show there was a joint motion to dismiss the case with prejudice.

The amount of the settlement is not known because each side signed a confidentiality agreement.

JPD would not have paid one thin dime, if they were not in the wrong.

Walking in the street. Swearing at passing motorists; in front of her children. Going to church? I guess she can use Flip's excuse - The devil made me do it.

Just wonderin' -IF - she was beligerant to the cop (therefore got tased for it) - then she was doing it in front of her kids - and what example was she showing them? Seems if this is true, then those kids were taught a valuable lesson - be respectful to law enforcement!

Pedestrians DO have the right of way, but thats IF they are in a cross walk, not if they are walking in the street.

I also remember this story. Only a devil will attack a mother in front of her children as they walk to church.

I think I remember this and ladyluck accurately recapped the story, and yes, it was the church of crack

I hate to bring it up but I thought the pedestrian always had the right of way. Be hard to be mad at someone for your being wrong. Besides it says they settled for an undisclosed amount. Guess they gave up and and owned up to being wrong. By them babies plenty of good things.

Now I have to buy a Leader to find out the true story. If ladyluck is correct, and the woman was walking in the middle of the street, swearing at people driving by her, then the police should have been called.
