LITTLE ROCK, AR -- Monday at Arkansas Graphics, Oaklawn Park printed 30,000 Calvin Borel trading cards, honoring the jockey's expected 5,000th career victory.
"I've been very fortunate and very successful. Oaklawn loves me and its very nice for them to do it," said Borel.
The cards will go to fans once the 46-year-old hits the milestone, which is something he has raced towards for 30 years.
"5,000 races was my goal and I am there. I really don't know how long I am going to stay at the game, but I love the game. As long as I stay safe, I am going to keep knocking," said Borel.
Managers say to print 30,000 cards doesn't take that long at all, actually requiring only 15 minutes.
Borel has won three Kentucky Derbys and several big wins at Oaklawn, earning more than $20 million in his career.
The Hot Springs Advertising and Promotion Commission is sponsoring the printing at just about $1600. Fans who want a card must be present at the race, when the milestone is hit.
