"Mr. President, we have had our teacher group union to vote. They voted last Friday and they are very supportive. They are the people who will be doing the teaching," said Superintendent Morris Holmes.
More electives, like broadcasting, will be added to the curriculum under the new plan. The change also allows teachers to have more planning time, which gave some members worry.
But administrators say the accountability factor will be with each principal.
"We will meet with the principals, registrars, and counselors and design the schedule that the kids will actually have and they will have the opportunity to pick new electives and so forth," said Associate Superintendent Marvin Burton.
