The office focuses on saving your tax dollars from being wasted.
OMIG is also tasked with preventing, detecting and investigating fraud waste and abuse in the Arkansas Medicaid program.
In the 2014 fiscal year it's performed around 350 audits and reviews.
And with those reviews the office has recovered more than $1.5 million in Medicaid overpayments.
"We have more than doubled the number of referrals that we have been able to send to them that they have been able to investigate and prosecute criminally and that's something we will be continuing to do in this next year as well," says Jay Shue, the Arkansas Medicaid Inspector General.
This is the first time Arkansas has had an agency dedicated entirely to Medicaid program integrity to insure there is no waste and abuse of your tax dollars.
