Police say the victim -- 17 year old Sean Studler -- was from Conway.
Officers say he was walking alongside the tracks, wearing headphones, when the Union Pacific train hit him.
It happened just after 1:30 this afternoon just west of the Salem overpass.
According to detectives, the conductor blew the whistle and tried to stop as soon as he saw the teen, but couldn't do it in time.
Along with talking to railroad employees, detectives are looking over surveillance video from the train to find out exactly what happened.
But at this point, it appears to be an accident.
