Benton Police Make Arrest in Day Care Burglary

BENTON, AR - A Benton man has been arrested for the burglary of a Benton day-care and preschool center.

On March 28 officers with the Benton Police Department responded to a call from A Kid’s Place at N. Main St. on report of a business burglary.

When officers arrived, they determined that forced entry had been made into the business to steal items and a van belonging to the business had also been stolen.

Officers later got a call about the van being spotted at a business on Military Rd.

Before officers reached the location where the van was spotted they were informed that a suspect seen near the van had fled the scene.

Officers conducted a search of the area and later made contact with the suspect, who was identified as Jason Hamilton, 33, of Benton.

Detectives conducted a follow-up investigation into the incident and then arrested Hamilton for the crime.

Hamilton is being charged with Commercial Burglary and two counts of Theft of Property.

This is an on-going investigation and additional charges could be set in place.
