Former UALR Standout Signs Contract With Cleveland Cavaliers

LITTLE ROCK, AR (News release) – Former UALR men’s basketball player Shane Edwards has signed a 10-day contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers, the team announced on Wednesday. Edwards spent two seasons at UALR from 2007-09, leading the Trojans to back-to-back Sun Belt Conference West Division Championships and a combined record of 43-19.

Edwards has appeared in 40 games (32 starts) for the Canton Charge, the Cavaliers’ exclusively owned and operated NBA Development League team, this season, averaging 13.3 points on 54.7 percent shooting and 5.5 rebounds in 28.2 minutes per game.

The 6-7, 220-pound forward has scored 15 or more points 15 times on the season, including in nine of his last 11 games, and has two double-doubles on the year.

A 2009 First Team All-Sun Belt selection, Edwards averaged 11.8 points and 5.4 rebounds per game as a senior to lead the Trojans to a 23-8 overall record and a 15-4 mark in league play.
