The bold move was all caught on video. In the surveillance video a hooded man is seen throwing a rock three times into the sliding glass door of the local business. On the fourth attempt the rock went through the door, but it didn't break, and that is when the man tries to break the glass using his hands.
Captain Jim Hansard with the Maumelle Police Department says the Walgreens is at one of the busiest intersections in the city, "So it's a pretty gutsy move."
Captain Hansard added, "It's a really, really good window."
"He tried and tried, but he couldn't get in, so thankfully nothing was stolen from the business."
This is not the first time a rock has been used to try to break into a Maumelle business. In early June someone broke-in and stole more than $100 at the Sonic Drive-In that's less than a mile away from the Walgreens.
Hansard said, "I'm not sure if we can connect the two, but it is noteworthy that both of them were somebody trying to break-in, or breaking into a business via a rock to a door."
As police continue looking for leads, they will do so with an open mind.
"There's nothing that screams about this case that it's related to the other one, but of course our detectives will look into all similarities and work the case appropriately."
Maumelle Police are asking anyone with information to call them.
The door at Walgreens was replaced the same day, as for the rock, it moved from the drugstore to the evidence room at the police station.
