Malvern Woman Charged in Work Truck Chase in Hot Springs

HOT SPRINGS, AR -- A Malvern woman has been arrested after allegedly stealing a welding truck and then fleeing from law enforcement officers.

KLRT Content Partner Hot Springs Daily reports officials arrested 40-year-old Astrid Shoshannah Eye of Malvern at 4:00 p.m. Friday after a short pursuit.

Astrid Eye is being charged with Fleeing, Careless and Prohibited Driving and Theft of Property.

She remained in custody on Sunday.

According to the Garland County Sheriff's Office,  Chris Horner of Horner Welding Company called 911 to report a woman had jumped into a company work truck and fled west on Malvern Avenue.

Workers followed the truck and stayed in contact with dispatch until deputies spotted the vehicle headed west on Albert Pike.

The suspect allegedly led the deputies, Hot Springs police and Arkansas State Police officers on a chase.

The truck turned into Westgate Plaza, and jumped a curb and continued eastbound on Albert Pike.

According to officials, the truck crossed the center line several times as it weaved in and out of traffic.

The vehicle ran into a fence and the suspect was then taken into custody.

The company truck apparently had no damage and was released back to Horner.
