LR Attorney Offers Advice On Winter Weather Collisions

- LITTLE ROCK, AR -- A Little Rock attorney says just because you get involved in an accident while driving on snow and ice, doesn't free you from liability by blaming the problem on the weather.

Attorney Andy Taylor says Arkansas law requires drivers to drive at a reasonable and prudent speed during bad weather.

He says basically that means you should drive slow enough to avoid an accident, regardless of posted speed limits.

"I think a lot of people think when they drive on snow or ice, it's every man for himself; kinda like the bumper cars at he state fair and it's really not," Taylor said. "You have to be careful and aware of the ice. If you get out there and hurt someone, you are going to be held liable."

He says the safest thing to do is stay at home and off the roads when there is bad weather.
