Salvation Army Gets Approval For Community Garden

- LITTLE ROCK, AR-- The Salvation Army gets approval Monday night to build a community garden at its North Little Rock office.

The city council approved the measure unanimously.

Army leaders say the goal is to encourage healthier eating habits.

"We are really hoping that this is an opportunity for us to engage with that community in Baring Cross and build relationships and bring a sense of hope and life into that community," said spokeswoman Kathy Barbeire.

Three other community gardens, sponsored by other organizations, were also approved.
