SILOAM SPRINGS, AR -- After a recent drowning, a water park offers a class on whitewater safety.
Siloam Springs Whitewater Recreation Park held a class on methods to keep people safe while on the river.
The river is a fast-flowing rapid and the city say's it's important for the public to be prepared on the water.
Public Safety Director Greg Neely says they hope the class will help prevent any more accidents.
"Certainly, the tragedy is in the back of our mind, and certainly, if there are any incidents in the future. We hope that they can be prevented through forums such as this," Neely said.
The city says it plans to partner with more water safety groups and have more classes like this in the future.
