SEARCY, AR-Community members are giving blood with the American Red Cross to remember a fallen Conway Police Officer.

Officer William "Will" McGary, 26, was directing traffic following an auto accident when he was hit by an oncoming car. He died from his injuries on February 1, 2013.

On Sunday, people are going to Valley Baptist Church to help save lives in memory of Officer McGary. His family were also at the church for the blood drive.

According to the American Red Cross, McGary was a dedicated member of Valley Baptist Church for 14 years. He was a Razorbacks fan who also enjoyed sports, hunting and fishing. He graduated from Searcy High School in 2005 and served as a Conway Police Officer for nearly two years. While his life certainly ended too soon, those organizing the blood drive hope it will allow McGary's spirit of giving to live on.
