Jessieville School Dist. Superintendent Resigns Following DWI Arrest

- JESSIEVILLE, AR -- A Jessieville superintendent resigns at a school board meeting Saturday night, after he's accused of drunk driving.

Andrew Curry of Jessieville Public School District is under fire after police arrested him for a DWI in Texas last week.

The school board is meeting in private at Jessieville's Performing Arts Center tonight.

Andrew Curry did not come to tonight's executive meeting.

Jessieville's School Board President Sonya Eisenhauer said she decided to hold this meeting late tonight because she has been out of town up until this afternoon.

However, she did say this meeting is going to take a while and that the board may not come to a decision tonight.

We spoke with her privately earlier this week and Eisenhauer said this incident is disappointing and unfortunate because it does not reflect Curry's character or all the good he's done for the district.

Parents however disagreed.

Sherry Ellison said, "I do not see how the community or the Jessieville staff can gain back enough respect for him to be able to be in a good working environment and a good environment for our children."

Eisenhauer said, "I think it would be a wonderful thing if we as a community took all that energy and instead worked for our kids instead of hurting each other."

We spoke with Curry over the phone a few days ago and asked him if he has remorse or regret about the drinking and driving charges and he quickly answered "of course".
