Benton Police Arrest Man For Making Several Bomb Threats At Walmart Stores

BENTON, AR- An arrest has been made in Benton following several bomb threats in southeast Arkansas.

Benton Police have arrested William Dudley Edwards.

He is being held in Saline County until he will be turned over to the Little River County Sheriff's Office.

An arrest warrant was issued for Williams Friday night. The affidavit for the warrant identifies William Edwards as the suspect.

According to Little River County authorities, Edwards was identified as a suspect through caller information from the Ashdown Walmart and verified by a phone company. Texarkana Arkansas and Texas stores were also threatened.

Texarkana, Arkansas and Texas Police are joining with other area law enforcement agencies in the investigation of multiple calls of bomb threats.

Employees of two separate Walmart stores called 911 around 7:00 a.m. Friday after receiving a call from an unknown male advising a bomb was located inside the business and would detonate during a specific time period.

All calls occurred within minutes of each other. 

Two businesses had to be evacuated and closed while a search was conducted by the store employees.
