BENTON COUNTY, AR - Northwest Arkansas road crews are doing everything they can to speed up the effort to clear roads.
Benton County road crews pre-treated the roads Saturday. One of their special weapons is magnesium chloride, which works at lower temperatures.
"That's why we chose the magnesium chloride. It will actually start working about 15 below and up so with the temperature being at 3, it should, once the sun really gets up and starts cooking, it'll, it should start helping us quite a bit," explains Terry Nalley with the Benton County Road Department.
The method, combined with rising temperatures in the forecast, should speed up the melting process - and help crews get back to building and repairing other roads in Benton County faster.
