LITTLE ROCK, AR - As an Arkansas girl (Kali Hardig) marks one year since she became a rare survivor of parasitic meningitis, we're sharing reminders about the illness that made headlines in 2013.

Note: You cannot be infected with Naegleria fowleri by drinking contaminated water, and the infection cannot spread from one person to another.
