Pine Bluff Police Investigating City's First Homicide of the Year

PINE BLUFF, Ark. - An early morning shooting has left a local man dead.

The Pine Bluff Police Department (PBPD) says officers were called to a home on South Richard St. around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday and found the victim in the passenger seat of a car. 

Police say Deunta Blakemore, 22, was pronounced dead after being taken to the hospital.

Neighbors say they heard at least five gunshots but didn't see anything.

"It's crazy around here. You hear gunshots, but you never know what's going to happen and this is a couple of doors down from my house," says Sandra Lever.

Police say they're working to find the gunman and a motive behind the deadly shooting.

The PBPD says "this is an ongoing investigation and any assistance from the public would be appreciated."
