Rangers recall Ross to start

Arlington, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - The Texas Rangers recalled pitcher Robbie Ross Jr. from Triple-A Round Rock to start Thursday's series finale against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Ross, who opened the season as the Rangers' third starter, went 2-4 with a 5.61 earned run average across 18 games (nine starts) before being optioned to Round Rock on June 17.

The left-hander will take the place of starter Yu Darvish, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday with right elbow inflammation.

Texas also optioned pitcher Nate Adcock to Round Rock. The reliever had a 4.50 ERA in seven appearances since having his contract purchased by the team on July 24.
