Riverfest to Withhold Half of CeeLo's Pay

LITTLE ROCK, AR -- Officials with Riverfest say one of the top musical performers didn't meet the obligations of his contract and won't be getting half the money he was supposed to earn.

CeeLo Green took the stage Saturday night, but the folks at Riverfest say he only performed for half the time laid out in his contact.  Riverfest officials say the contract was set to pay him around $100,000.

"We feel like we're trying to protect the experience for our festival goer," said Riverfest board member Cheddy Wigginton.  "That's really what this is about."
Wigginton says CeeLo will get to keep a deposit paid in advance that amounts to about half the total.
He says CeeLo was scheduled to take the stage at 9:45pm but didn't come out until 10:21pm. What was scheduled to be a 75-90 minute show, Wigginton say, only lasted 40-45 minutes.

"We want everybody to know this isn't a Riverfest issue," Wigginton said.  "We didn't intentionally delay anything.  We didn't make any special requests.  We fully anticipated a full CeeLo Green show."

Wigginton says Riverfest expects to hear from CeeLo's camp Tuesday.
He says money Riverfest saves on the performance would go to paying bills for the weekend and doesn't anticipate any refunds for ticket buyers.

FOX16 reached out through phone and email to a pair CeeLo representatives. Messages we're not immediately returned.
