LITTLE ROCK, AR - A local man remains hospitalized after being shot by police after a morning store robbery.
The suspect in the holdup of the Mapco Max Mart on Stagecoach Rd. is identified as Michael McCormack, 31.
Police say the clerk told them the man poured a cup of coffee and walked up to the counter to pay when he
then ordered her to get him 3 beers from the cooler. After taking the beers, coffee and cash, he ran from the store into a wooded area.
His footprints left in the snow enabled police to find him before his refusal to put down a handgun led to him being shot by police.
McCormack faces charges of aggravated robbery, battery, aggravated assault, theft of property, and use of force.

LITTLE ROCK, AR - A robbery suspect is in critical condition after being shot by police who were trying to arrest him.
The shooting happened after officers were called to an armed holdup at the Mapco Max Mart, 8101 Stagecoach Rd. around 2:40 Wednesday morning.
Police say the suspect was armed with a handgun when he robbed the business, taking cash and beer before running from the scene into nearby woods.
Officers used a K-9 to track down the suspect and ordered him to put down his weapon. When the man refused, the police dog was released upon him twice but he still managed to hold onto his weapon.
Police say he then pointed the handgun at officers and was shot by one officer multiple times.
The wounded suspect, whose name has not yet been released, was taken to Baptist Hospital, where he had surgery for his injuries.
A loaded handgun and cash were found with him, according to police.
The Little Rock Police Department (LRPD) says two separate investigations are under way into the incident, which is department policy.
The first will be conducted by the LRPD's Major Crimes Division and submitted to the Prosecuting Attorney's Office for a review and determination as to compliance with Arkansas law. The second investigation will be conducted by the LRPD's Professional Standards Section to determine if the officer involved acted in accordance with departmental policies.
The officer who shot the suspect is on administrative leave, which is also department policy in such incidents.
