Roland Man Killed in Cantrell Road Accident
LITTLE ROCK, AR - A Roland man has died in a two-car accident on Cantrell Road.
It happened shortly after 1 p.m. on Wednesday in the 17000 block near the intersection with Ranch Road.
The victim is identified as Leroy Patterson, 84, who was driving a 1999 Kia Sephia. He died about three hours after being taken to the hospital.
According to the accident report, a 2003 Pontiac Vibe hatchback crossed the center line and collided head-on with Patterson's vehicle.
Amber Wells, 18, the driver of the Pontiac, told police she had swerved to avoid hitting a car that had pulled into her lane and then lost control of her car before colliding with Patterson's vehicle. She and a passenger in her car were trapped after the collision and the front doors had to be cut off to get them out. Wells and Abby Smith, 17, of Oppelo, were taken to the hospital but there's no word on their conditions.
Both vehicles had damage estimated at $5,000.
