Same-Sex Marriage to Take Center Stage at General Assembly

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Same-sex marriage is expected to take center stage at the Arkansas General Assembly on Friday.

A resolution supporting marriage between one man and one woman and criticizing the Pulaski County judge who overturned Arkansas ban-on same sex marriage expected to get a hearing.

State Senator Jason Rapert of Conway expressed frustration last month after a similar effort failed, and told colleagues today the vote last month was improper.

"I do feel like it's important that everybody have confidence that everyone will have a matter heard fairly," says Rapert.

The resolution, if approved by the Arkansas Legislative Council, is not binding on the case, which is currently on appeal at the Arkansas Supreme Court.
