RUSSELLVILLE, AR (River Valley Leader) - A collision in Russellville involving a semi striking a pedestrian is under investigation by law enforcement.
At 9:08 a.m. Pope County 911 dispatchers received a call reporting a motor vehicle collision that occurred at the intersection of Weir Rd. and East Parkway Drive.
The Russellville Police Department, Russellville Fire Department, Pope County EMS, and the Arkansas State Police were dispatched to the scene.
Upon their arrival, firefighters and EMS personnel advised dispatchers that CPR was in progress. Despite continuous resuscitation efforts by responders on scene, the victim involved in the collision, a 55-year-old white male, died from the injuries he sustained in the accident. Russellville Police officers requested the response of the Pope County Coroner's Office and upon the arrival of Pope County Coroner Leonard Krout, the victim was pronounced dead on the scene.
The area of the accident was closed for a short time as investigators surveyed the scene and was reopened around 11 a.m.
The name of the victim has not yet been released.
