LITTLE ROCK, AR - The State Highway Department officially kicks off a $1.8B dollar project.

The "Connecting Arkansas Program" consists of 31 highway projects. The majority of the projects include widening and improvements to highways all across the state.

However, the first project is a new Bella Vista Bypass. Workers will construct two lanes of an eventual 19-mile four-lane interstate.

Mike Malone says, "There's all kinds of traffic congestion around Bella Vista corridor being built."

The program is funded with a 10-year half-cent sales tax and is one of the largest highway programs ever created in Arkansas.
