Man Surrenders in Garland Co. Domestic Dispute

A shot fired through a window stuck a state highway vehicle, officials say

GARLAND COUNTY, Ark. - A man was taken into custody Wednesday morning following a domestic dispute.

The Garland County Sheriff's Office received a call around 7:30 a.m. that a man was allegedly pointing a gun at family members at Pinehill Road.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they were met by the suspect's father outside the home.

Deputies say they were able to get the mother to come out of the home without incident.

Authorities say the suspect, Robert Bailey, 34, fired a gun through a window of the house, which struck an Arkansas Highway Department vehicle located at the scene.

A perimeter was established and deputies were able to call Bailey out of the house at which point he surrendered and was taken into custody.

A section of HWY 7 (Central Avenue) was closed to traffic for about 30 minutes as deputies were taking the man into custody.

Bailey was taken to a local area hospital for evaluation. Authorities say once medically cleared he will be transported to the Garland County Detention Center.

Deputies say no one was injured during the incident, and charges are currently pending.
