Plane Crashes near Eureka Springs

CARROLL COUNTY, Ark. - One person is reported injured in a plane crash near Eureka Springs.

The Carroll County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) says it happened shortly after 11 a.m. at Silver Wings Aviation along Hwy. 207.

CCSO deputies and the Eureka Springs Fire Department responded to the crash site.

The Sheriff's Office says the pilot, identified as Marlyn Atkinson of Excelsior Springs, Mo., was the only person on board. They were taken to the hospital in Eureka Springs with injuries that were reported as not life-threatening.

The plane crashed shortly after take-off from the private airstrip, owned by Silver Wings Aviation. 

The plane came to rest about 75 yards east of the airstrip and was intact following impact.  

Initial reports indicated smoke coming from the plane, however there was no fire.  

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Traffic Safety Board (NTSB) will determine the cause of the crash.
