Elkins man charged with lottery fraud

An Elkins man has been arrested on allegations of stealing Arkansas Lottery tickets from a liquor store and trying to redeem them for cash.

ELKINS, Ark. (AP) — An Elkins man has been arrested on allegations of stealing Arkansas Lottery tickets from a liquor store and trying to redeem them for cash.

The Northwest Arkansas Times reports that 18-year-old Damion Michael Savage was arrested on felony warrants of breaking or entering, commercial burglary and lottery fraud.

Savage says he had bought the tickets at a gas station.

Police say officers were called Friday afternoon when Savage tried to redeem the tickets that an Arkansas Lottery official says match lottery tickets stolen from Eastside Liquor in Elkins.

It was not released how much the lottery tickets were worth.
