FORREST CITY, Ark. (AP) — The Sanyo Manufacturing Corp. factory in Forrest City is moving more of its operations to other cities.
Plant vice president Joe Keeton would not say Thursday how many jobs will be lost among the 75 workers who remain at the plant.
The factory had more than 650 employees just five years ago when the plant was still making cathode ray televisions. Flat screen TVs have made the older style televisions obsolete.
The Times-Herald of Forrest City reports the plant will still operate a call center and support functions. Parts of the operation involved in distribution, logistics and engineering are moving to San Diego or Tijuana, Mexico.
The layoffs are to take effect by March 31.
