Election Committee Seeks Clarification on Voter ID Law

- LITTLE ROCK, AR--The Pulaski County Election Commission has decided to sue the state board of elections in order to clarify voter identification rules.

On Friday, Pulaski County Attorney Karla Burnett said she would advise the election commission not to follow the board's new rules concerning absentee ballots. The election commission is asking for clarification regarding a grace period allowed for voters who do not have identification at the time of their vote.

The attorney general has said that the Arkansas law does not address giving more time to absentee voters who do not submit identification.
