Gov. Beebe Sets Date for Special Election to Replace Jonesboro Senator

LITTLE ROCK, AR -- Governor Mike Beebe has set the date for a special election to fill the Jonesboro senate seat vacated by former State Senator Paul Bookout.

The election will be held January 14.

Bookout resigned from the Arkansas Senate on Aug. 20 after being hit with an $8,000 fine from the State Ethics Commission.

He still faces heavy fines and possible criminal prosecution for misusing campaign funds.
