LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel's office says police disciplinary records can be released under the state's open records law, a decision that factors into an alleged instance of excessive force involving an off-duty Little Rock police officer.
McDaniel's office on Friday issued a one-word response — "Yes" — to a question from the Little Rock Police Department as to whether "an entire disciplinary file" could be released under a Freedom of Information Act request.
A cell phone video has been circulating on the Internet of an Oct. 29 incident outside a Little Rock restaurant involving Lt. David Hudson and Chris Erwin, who says he was repeatedly struck in the face.
The Arkansas Supreme Court has stayed a ruling by a circuit judge who ordered the records to be released.
