Texarkana Arkansas Police Department, Texarkana Arkansas Fire Department, and Emergency Management Officials responded to Americold Logistics, 3609 Genoa Road, about an anhydrous ammonia leak on the roof of the business.

Police officers blocked the north and south entrances of the parking lot, while Fire Department personnel and Emergency Management Director Dave Hall met with employees of the business. Employees told them that approximately 1000 pounds of anhydrous ammonia had leaked from a pipe on the roof.

When employees noticed the leak, pressure to the pipe was shut off.

Fire Department Personnel and Dave Hall used air sensors around the facility and it was determined there was no public danger and no evacuations were necessary. Due to the atmospheric conditions of the day, and the location of the leak (rooftop), the anhydrous ammonia evaporated very quickly after coming in contact with the air.
